The adventure begins…

I am my own boss! It feels strange typing these words but I am also incredibly excited about this new venture. I had been thinking for a while “I wish I could combine the best parts of all the jobs I’ve ever had over the years into one” but it proved difficult to find, so I realised - if I can’t find this perfect job then I will make it.

Deciding to quit my job in the middle of a global pandemic seems like a crazy thing to do but, I guess I have never followed a conventional path in life; so in a strange way, it seemed like the perfect time to turn my dream into a reality.

Putting the plan into action

Going freelance had always been a dream of mine. I had so many pieces of paper lying around which had rough plans, ideas and goals scribbled down on them but I never believed in myself enough to do anything.

The idea became a serious thought last summer, so I decided to banish those insecurities and put the plan into action. I saved, planned and eventually decided I was ready to make the move into the world of freelance.

Restore to factory settings

I took some time to rest and recharge after quitting my job in February. Ten years of working full time and studying part-time for a degree had left me feeling mentally and physically burned out. I realised if I was going to start this new chapter of my life properly, I had to give myself a break first. During this time I read books that I had been planning on reading for ages, I went on lots of walks and rediscovered my love of painting. I started feeling positive again.

The future looks bright

I am genuinely so excited to see what the future holds. When I wake up in the morning, I feel a renewed sense of energy towards my career and can’t wait to get started!
